THIRTEEN-year-old Luke Midgley, from Silsden, has qualified for the ASA National Swimming Championships in August.

The South Craven School year eight pupil is the first member of Skipton Swimming Club in over four years to reach the nationals. He attained his 50 metres breaststroke qualifying time of 36.11 seconds and third place in the final at the ASA North East Region (ASANER's) Age Group Championships held at Sheffield's Ponds Forge.

Luke's other results at the ASANER's were fourth in the 100 metres breaststroke final, with a time of 1min 20.47sec, and seventh in the 200 metres breaststroke final in 2.59.97.
