Keighley Albion u-11s 24 Leeds Irish Clovers u-11s 10

ALBION pulled off their third win on the bounce against a side who pushed them all the way.

Good rugby pushed the hosts back on the first set but Albion’s defence was as stoic as ever. Numbers were thrown into tackles to slow down Clovers, which forced errors and gave Albion good field position as Caleb McConville showed great strength and pace to cross and convert.

Keighley gifted possession close to their line, which saw them cross down the blindside, but Albion stretched the lead when McConville again ghosted over.

Leeds Irish, who had not lost in ten games, scored a great try when their impressive full back picked a great line to canter home. Albion gave themselves breathing space just before half-time when, playing their best bit of rugby, Lewis Bloodworth slalomed out wide and drew the last defender, allowing Ben McParland to sprint clear from halfway before McConville converted.

Riley Corby broke the line after the break to gain some revenge on the opposition’s full back by rounding him to seal victory, with McConville putting the icing on the cake with the conversion. While this was not their most vintage display in attack, Albion worked overtime in defence. Awards went to McConville (opposition and parents), Tyler Moyles (players player) and Josh Dickerson (coaches award).

Keighley Albion u-13s 40 Huddersfield St Joseph’s Sharks u-13s 4

Albion bounced back to form ahead of this weekend’s big game at joint leaders Hunslet Parkside with an eight-try demolition of Sharks.

The early omens were not good as the visitors took an early lead but Albion got into their stride with tries from Zac Blackburn, Edward Croft and Charlie Heath.

In the second half Albion came out full of purpose, not allowing the Sharks any possession in a ten-minute spell which saw tries by Josh Charnock, Ben Shaw and Heath again.

Further scores from Harry Webster and Nathan Dickinson sealed victory, the match awards being won by Heath, Billy Addy, Joel Livock and Aiden Barrett.

Keighley Albion u-8s 40 Eastmoor u-8s 28

Albion's impressive season continued as three quick tries had Eastmoor on the back foot from the start.

Benjamin Horsfield scored the first of his four tries before a Hamza Butt try and a barnstorming Alfie McGrace score gave Albion a 12-0 lead. Eastmoor responded at regular intervals but Albion always had the edge.

Aaron Horner, along with Butt, scored again and McGrace clinched his hat-trick. Thomas Procter and Sonnie Anderson had brilliant defensive games.
