OXENHOPE'S Matthew Merrick finished halfway up the field representing England in the International Youth Cup mountain running event.
The Bingley Harrier claimed 31st spot out of 61 to help his country to tenth place in Smolyan, Bulgaria.
He clocked a finishing time of 28min 7secs on the 5.4km course, which featured 318 metres of climb.
That placed him second England runner behind Elliott Matier (11th), with team-mates Ben Kent coming in 37th, Jamie Ward 45th, Robbie Brown 51st and Ilkley Harrier Ruaridh Mon-Williams 56th.
Italian Daniel Pattis won the event, his country also claiming the team title.
