KEIGHLEY II skipper Allan Birkett has been suspended for six weeks.

The ban, imposed by a JCT600 Bradford League disciplinary panel at East Bierley, comes following an incident during a second-team match at home to Yeadon on Saturday, June 13.

Birkett was found guilty of showing serious dissent at an umpire's decision by word or action and his suspension runs from Saturday, June 20 until Friday, July 31.

Yeadon's Stephen Simpson was also reported by the umpires in the same match for using language that is obscene, offensive or insulting and has a suspended two-week ban hanging over him until the end of the season on Saturday, September 5

The disciplinary panel for both hearings was chairman Brian Pearson, Naz Hussain and Alan Carter.

Meanwhile, Woodlands II bowler Tom Lightfoot took all ten wickets and performed a hat-trick as his side beat bottom team Keighley II by 133 runs.

Lightfoot returned the stunning figures of 10-44 as Keighley were bowled out for 101 and he completely overshadowed the earlier performance of team-mate Cieran Garner, who made 102 out of his side's 234-5. Skipper Stephen Pearson chipped in with an unbeaten 47.

Keighley's first team did not have a fixture last weekend.
