STEETON continued their upturn in form with an 18-run win at Burley-in-Wharfedale in Division One.

The visitors made 221 all out in two balls short of their 50-over allocation and had Oliver Gledhill to thank for ensuring they posted a competitive score.

They were struggling at 127-5 but he made a belligerent 59 runs from just 50 deliveries, including three sixes and seven fours.

He shared a great sixth-wicket partnership of 52 with Jon Best (22), who went on to share a 29-run stand with James Emmott (19).

Earlier in the innings, Australian Max Tomkinson scored a solid 30, while Chris Luxton made 26.

In reply Burley were restricted to 203-7 despite the efforts of Richard Brook (54) and 16-year-old Sam Fox (39no).

Steeton were admirably led by opening bowler Joe Stead, who decimated the top-order Burley batsmen and finished with 4-33 from 11 overs. Emmott (1-49), skipper Stephen Pearson (1-44) and Neil Spragg (1-37) also weighed in.

Michael O’Flaherty (62) and Paul Quinlan (6-33) were the stars as Harden eased their relegation worries at the expense of bottom club Green Lane. The Yeadon club were bowled out for 117 before Harden won by five wickets.

Chris Meehan hit a half-century for Silsden but there was no respite for the rock bottom Division Three side. They went down by 163 runs to nearest rivals Alwoodley, who are now 36 points ahead of them.

The Leeds hosts racked up a massive 321-7, Josh Waind taking 3-78, before the Cobbydalers were bowled out for 158.

Gary Boulton produced another fine all-round display as Steeton II romped to a seven-wicket win at home to Burley-in-Wharfedale II.

He took 3-39, while Luke Watson enjoyed the same figures as the visitors were held to 200-9.

Then Boulton smashed three sixes and seven fours in a 48-ball unbeaten 55 as Steeton reached their target in 32.3 overs.

David Robinson top-scored with an imperious 78 from just 71 deliveries with four sixes and ten fours.

Meanwhile, with 146 catches, Phil Barrett has now overtaken Graham Hodgson’s career total of second-team catches. Barrett now holds the record at first, second and third team level.

Harden II (125) were well beaten by Olicanian II (232-8) and Silsden II (106) were no match for Alwoodley (107-3).
