DENHOLME Clough were classic victims of only doing half a job at home to Shelf in the Foster's Halifax League Second Division.

They had the visitors at 43-5 but they recovered to a sensational 366-9, with No 7 Leigh Butterfield proving he is one of the most destructive batsmen in the league by scoring 172.

He added 160 for the sixth wicket with Andy Dimbleby (43) and 98 for the seventh with No 8 Craig Green (86no) as the figures of Sultan Mahmood (3-91) and his Clough colleagues were spoilt.

Shell-shocked Clough were then dismissed for 75, only Adil Hanif (16) reaching double figures as Steve Priestley took 7-44 and Robert Ramsden 3-11.

Cullingworth's promotion hopes were dealt a blow when they were shot out for 102 by Old Town and lost by three wickets.

It was Old Town's third straight win and they have hauled themselves out of the bottom two, while Cullingworth are now fourth with 103 points, 14 behind second-placed Old Crossleyans.

There was also a three-wicket victory in Division Two, with visitors Luddendenfoot triumphing over Oxenhope.

Liam Dyson (42), Darren Hopkinson (35) and Lewis Hopkinson (22) did best in Oxenhope's 184 but Luddendenfoot were guided home by James Stott (34no) for their best victory of the season.

There was no joy either for Oxenhope's second team, despite the best efforts of Tom Mawer (2-23 and 26) and Craig Bartlett (2-28 and 35)

as Luddendenfoot won a tight one by nine runs.

Ryan Allen was run out for 99 in Foot's 216, Nathan Storton taking 3-49, and openers Ed Jackson (46) and Brendan Ellison (34) did best in the reply of 209, although they collapsed from 195-6.

Adeem Mohammed (5-61) and Zahoor Arif (4-33) bowled Denholme Clough to a 33-run win over Shelf, while ten-man Cullingworth were no match for Old Town, losing by 181 runs, despite Michael Bright (3-114) and No 3 Tim Welsh (46no).
