DENHOLME teenager Rebekah Tiler set a new British senior clean and jerk record as she won a gold medal at the European Youth Weightlifting Championships in Sweden.
Tiler delivered a fantastic performance in the women's under-17 69kg category, with her overall total of 220kg also equalling her own British under-23 record set earlier in the year.
The 16-year-old current British senior champion illustrated her dominance at the Landskrona venue by coming out on top in both the snatch and clean and jerk lifts, beating closest rival Sona Poghosyan of Armenia by 14kg.
British Weight Lifting chief executive Ashley Metcalfe said: "Rebekah has been in outstanding form in the last 18 months – becoming the youngest athlete ever to be crowned British senior champion, finishing fourth at the Commonwealth Games and medalling at the World Youth Championships in April.
"We're delighted to see her success continue and this latest achievement shows she is progressing well ahead of the Commonwealth Youth Games in September and the World Championships in November."
