Keighley were no match for visitors Gomersal as they slumped to a 72-run defeat in JCT600 Bradford League Division Two.

Gomersal’s new opening pair of Graham Hilton (90) and Jack Seddon (55) shared an opening stand of 113 as their side made 269-6. Jonathan Boynton (39) and Ben Hyde (34) helped swell the score.

The Wear brothers were chief wicket-takers for Keighley, captain Richard taking 2-84 off 13 overs while Andy was more economical in earning 2-38 from 12 overs.

Hammy Shahzad (61) and Luke Chapman (44) were the main contributors to Keighley’s 197 as New Zealander Hyde took 5-32.

Shahzad's innings came in double-quick time – just 24 balls as he blasted seven fours and five sixes, while Chapman's knock was a more studious affair, coming in 89 balls.

Rock-bottom Keighley II suffered a ten-wicket defeat against Yeadon II.

The Division One basement side were bowled out for 107, with only Steve Reape (44) showing resistance as Paul Machell (5-16) and Matthew Yeadon (3-18) kept them under pressure. Liam Bishop made an unbeaten 61 as Yeadon took just 17 overs to seal victory.
