Silsden 3 Barnoldswick Town 1

SILSDEN scored three times in the final 12 minutes as they won Tuesday’s night Premier Division derby clash at the Angel Telecom Stadium.

Barnoldswick, who had collected 17 points from their previous eight games, had taken the lead with a 36th minute goal from their skipper James Crorken.

He slotted home when the Silsden defence switched off and allowed former Cobbydaler Joe Gaughan to get in a cross which Crorken turned home.

Silsden, who were looking to bounce back after losing their two previous games at Afc Blackpool 5-0 and at home to Winsford United 3-2, had to wait until the 78th minute for an equaliser.

A long ball from veteran Kevin Ryan sent young striker Craig Nicholls running clear of the defence. He rounded keeper Jordan Gidley before turning the ball into the path of Chris Wademan who made no mistake.

Two minutes later and Silsden were ahead. This time Ryan was the scorer. He rose to head Danny Howarth’s corner into the net.

Silsden were forced to make a substitution when striker Nicholls had to go off. Defender Lee Guilfoyle took his place and came up with a stunning third goal.

He collected a pass from former Barlick player Martin Broderick on the right and cut in before firing a left-foot shot into the roof of the net.

Silsden will be hoping to build on the results when they visit Northwich on Saturday before hosting Darwen next Tuesday.
