Keighley Albion u-11s 24 York Acorn u-11s 30

For the second successive week Albion were depleted but again turned out a fantastic performance.

They were denied by a useful York Acorn side, who completed the double over the hosts.

A great defensive set turned into a try for the hosts when Evan Jones swatted off a number of players on halfway before slipping a pass to Riley Corby, who scorched clear, leaving Caleb McConville a simple conversion.

Acorn drew level when Albion coughed up possession after another stout defensive set and took a half-time lead when their star full back cut the defence to ribbons.

In the second half, York were the beneficiaries of a dubious referee call when an offload on the last tackle was deemed a strip and the weight of tackles saw the visitors extend the lead.

Straight from the restart though Corby punched a huge hole, before offloading to Tyler Moyles who in turn found Reece Smollen, who drew the defence before freeing Ben McParland to dot down.

Acorn produced an immediate response with a try from half way before Moyles' smart play, after Kern Weatherill’s incisive thrust, saw McParland speed through to touch down.

Albion’s lack of numbers took its toll as Acorn's centre added his fourth try but a late double from Smollen, the first a thrilling dash down the side line and the second after an outrageous dummy, saw Albion have the final say.

Corby took home the opposition and player’s player awards, Weatherill the parents award and Moyles the coaches gong.

Keighley Albion u-13s 4 Moldgreen u-13s 20

Albion faced promotion contenders Moldgreen and were left to rue a disappointing first half which saw them trail by 20 points at the interval.

A length of the field run put the visitors ahead in their first attack before more strong running led to three further tries.

The second half was a different story, however, as Albion successfully regrouped to have the better of the exchanges.

Harry Webster provided the spark to much of Albion’s attacking play, but it was a good cross-field passing movement which led to their try, with Tom Crocket supplying the finish.

Match awards were won by Ben Shaw, Webster, Xander McConville and Aaron Thorpe.
