Wharfedale Triangle First Division: Cullingworth Youth 2 Otley Tavern 2
THIS was not one of Youth's best performances but they salvaged a point against a strong Otley side in a game featuring an incredible four penalties.
A draw was a fair result yet Youth should have snatched the points in the last minute but missed a one-on-one chance.
Both keepers were kept busy in an end-to-end encounter, Tavern taking the lead after 18 minutes.
Five minutes later, Youth were level as Chris Deacon found the net.
An eventful second half saw both teams conceding two penalties. Youth's keeper made a great save from the first one before Cullingworth missed their first one at the other end.
Chances were wasted at either end before Youth conceded another penalty, which was converted to give Tavern the lead.
The hosts missed a second penalty before sub Gary Todd found the Tavern net with a great header five minutes from time to conclude the scoring.
Though both teams had conceded two penalties, this was in no way a dirty game – just terrible defending.
Youth are at Marley on Sunday to play Premier Division neighbours Keighley Athletic in the Keighley & District FA Sunday Cup (11am).
l For the second Sunday Keighley Town were without a game as opponents Bingley Young Boys could not raise a team. On Sunday, Town play Sandy Lane at Marley in the Keighley & District FA Sunday Cup.
