North West Counties League Premier Division: Atherton Collieries 7 Silsden 2
THERE was no joy for Silsden last night as hosts Atherton Collieries turned in a seven-star display.
The Cobbydalers came from two goals down to level before an unfortunate own goal put them 3-2 down going into the break.
There seemed to be hope at that point but their hosts hit four without reply in a one-sided second half.
Atherton’s Jordan Cover opened the scoring in the second minute after picking up Brad Cooke’s through ball, and Mark Truffas slipped the offside trap to put the home side 2-0 up in the eighth minute.
The Cobbydalers hit back with a well-taken goal by Will Storrie before Nicky McNally levelled after pouncing on a poor back-pass.
Ben Hardcastle’s goal for the home side just two minutes into the second half negated Silsden boss Ryan Haigh’s half-time team talk, and Dave Sherlock and Callum Jones added goals before Cover bagged his brace in the last minute.
