KEIGHLEY'S David Ingham was honoured to receive an award for his dedication to amateur rugby league.

The Pennine League chairman was among five people to be presented with the RFL Community Rugby League Award of Merit.

The accolade was a well-earned acknowledgement of his distinguished and outstanding service to the game at grassroots level over the last 25 years.

He said: "There are a lot of other people who are just as deserving of this award.

"I don't it for recognition but it's nice to know the work I've done is appreciated."

As well as being vice-chairman and chairman of the Pennine League, David has been Keighley's representative at league meetings.

He was presented with his award by Castleford Super League stars Andy Lynch and Danny Orr at a special ceremony in Manchester United’s prestigious Captain’s Lounge at Old Trafford ahead of the Grand Final between Wigan and Leeds.

The event was introduced with a rousing speech by RFL chairman Brian Barwick, acknowledging the enormous role that community clubs and volunteers play in the lives of everyone involved in the sport.

Others to receive the Merit accolade were Phil Caplan, Keith Fillingham, Jason Talbot and Stuart Brown.
