SPORTING Keighley could have been forgiven for expecting to defeat visitors Embsay in the First Division of the Skipton Body Repair Centre Craven League.

After all, they are mid-table and Embsay were next to bottom but the Skipton side notched a shock 3-0 victory to climb a spot, with Shazad Khan taking both man of the match awards for the losers.

The exception to that rule were Bingley Town, who replaced Embsay in a relegation berth after their 9-2 defeat at third-placed AFC Colne, despite the best efforts of Jordan Bayliss.

Wilsden Athletic were also under the cosh in the Premier Division, Joel Hardy's inspiration not being enough to prevent a 7-2 home defeat against leaders Skipton LMS.

Next-to-bottom Cross Hills Reserves went down 3-1 at third-placed Carleton in the Second Division, while one flight below, tenth-placed Bingley Town Reserves, whose man of the match was George Peterken, lost 5-4 at home to Barlick Wanderers, who climbed four places to eighth.

Cowling Reserves remained seventh after their 4-2 defeat at sixth-placed Horton, Jack Sedgwick and substitute Christian Wheetley being on target for the second string, with Sedgwick and Sam Wedgwood sharing their man of the match awards.
