West Riding County Amateur League Division One: Steeton Reserves 0 Westbrook YMCA 4

Steeton dropped to second-from-bottom after Westbrook leapfrogged them with this win.

The match was played on the artificial surface at Marley to allow more time for the hosts' pitch to recover from the recent rain.

Westbrook's number seven Jarid Robson was an immediate threat and only alert goalkeeping from Sam Moore stopped the visitors taking an early lead. However, Robson's persistence paid off after 25 minutes when he latched on to a loose ball and drifted between centre backs Greg Hudson and Kyle Fox to slot home.

Steeton were unable to test the visiting keeper and frustration began to show with Mark McGee being shown a yellow card for dissent. Two minutes before the interval they were reduced to ten men when Josh Brooksbank was shown a straight red card for a nasty challenge on the halfway line.

Eight minutes into the second half, Steeton number 3 Ben Sutcliffe was forced to leave the field through injury after a tackle which the Chevrons felt was not unlike that which had earned Brooksbank a red card.

The game was restarted with a drop ball as the referee deemed that Sutcliffe, who was replaced by Chris Mawson, had not been fouled.

Westbrook took advantage of their extra man as Robson doubled the lead on 54 minutes. Seven minutes later Robson completed his hat-trick, topping off a fine display with a superb shot from just outside the area. The rout was completed 12 minutes from time when Joe Marsden latched on to a fine pass out of defence and calmly converted.

Steeton Reserves: Moore, Steel, Sutcliffe (Mawson), Hudson (Bridge), Fox, Whiteoak, McGee, Chapman (Clarkson), Abbas, Holmes, Brooksbank.
