Silsden 1 Squires Gate 2

SILSDEN remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier Division table after losing at home for the second time in four days.

Squires Gate, who are also fighting to avoid the drop, gained three valuable points on a night when their long balls to the pacy Ryan Tanser proved effective.

Chris Wademan had a shot saved by Nathan Trout before both sides lost players to injury. Silsden's Matty Moses and Gate's Billy McKenna both suffered hamstring injuries.

Tanser saw a dipping shot cleared by Kyle Harrison before the Cobbydalers took the lead. Andy Hill's shot from outside of the penalty area was only parried by Trout and Josh Kaine netted.

Gate were still relying on long balls and Harrison did well to check the pacey Tanser. At the other end Hancock and Zac Dale worked an opening for Danny Forrest but the ball was charged down.

Two minutes before the break the visitors were awarded a free-kick. Once again Silsden failed to defend properly allowing Jamie Gibson to flick home Joe Noblett's free kick.

The Cobbydalers started the second half with some purpose. Dale had a shot well held by Trout while Harrison went closest to scoring but his header was well held by Trout.

The visitors took the lead when Hancock conceded an unnecessary free kick. Noblett drove the ball into the box where Ben FIishwick reacted quickest to steer the ball into the net.

Silsden lost their focus. Ed Hall managed to save a sharp shot from Fishwick and left back Jacob Higham's well-directed header.

The visitors packed their defence and the he Cobbydalers simply lacked ideas on how to break them down.

The table doesn't lie and it will take a miracle for the Cobbydalers to avoid their only relegation since they reformed in 1994.
