A STUNNING comeback from Sutton Juniors under-12s saw them lift the Keighley FA's Liam Daly Trophy at Silsden.

They were losing 3-0 to Keighley Shamrocks but fought back to force extra-time and then completed a thrilling fightback to win 5-3.

The south Craven side considered themselves underdogs in the final following their struggles in the league. And despite Sutton having chances to take the lead, Shamrocks went ahead following a long ball up field.

Sutton rallied, hitting the bar, but Keighley went further in front with a header from a corner and then a misjudgement at the back saw them 3-0 up.

However, Sutton were not about to give up and a header just before half-time from Joshua Whiteoak gave them hope.

They started the second half with renewed energy. Chances went begging at both ends but it looked like time was running out for Sutton when they pulled a second back in a goalmouth scramble.

This rejuvenated the yellows and they levelled with a free-kick into the top corner from Joshua Green to set up extra-time.

The first period remained goalless but Sutton sealed a memorable comeback with two goals in the second. The first came from Ben Riddiough on the edge of the area and then a lob over the keeper from James Eyles made it 5-3.

Shamrocks tried to fightback but Sutton held out, Jodie Pepper making a cracking tackle, before their celebrations began.
