CONDITIONS looked promising before the start of last Wednesday evening's Bronte Wheelers 10-mile time trial on the Cracoe to Skipton and back course.
Unfortunately a downpour started five minutes before the first man went off and finished five minutes after the last man finished.
Although all the riders were drenched and cold, this did not dull their speed and the winner again was national champion Ryan Perry riding for Langdale Lightweights.
He recorded a time of 20min 57secs just four days after his blistering ride at Hull where he clocked an incredible time of 17:53, averaging almost 35mph.
In second place was Thomas Wood of Bradford Olympic in a time of 22:59sec and third was Paul Braithwaite in 23:20.
The first veteran on standard was 54-year-old Dave Metcalfe of Team Swift in a time of 23min 40secs with a plus of 3:24secs on standard.
In last Sunday's hilly 23-mile time trial on the Bolton Abbey to Grassington route, the winner was Steve Ayers, posting a time of 55:39 to set a course record. Bearing in mind there is almost 3,000ft of climbing, it was a fantastic effort.
