KEIGHLEY'S search for a league win goes on as they slipped to their fifth Championship A defeat of the season at home to Yeadon.

Chasing the visitors' 190-7, the Lawkholme Lane side fell well short on 126 all out in a 64-run loss.

Second-placed Yeadon, who reduced the gap to 11 points on inactive leaders Batley, had their spin bowlers to thank with the ball.

Teenager James Massheder (4-57) and the evergreen Damon Gormley (3-12) were key in helping reduce the hosts to 58-8.

A ninth-wicket stand of 68 runs provided some respectability to Keighley's score thanks to 40 from skipper Alex Towler and an unbeaten 23 from Jack Rogers.

Gormley had earlier made the top score of 46 in Yeadon's total as Andrew Pickering (38), Oliver Halliday (33) and David Machell (30no) chipped in with useful contributions.

Maaiz Khan (3-51) was the pick of Keighley's bowlers, while Matthew Haines weighed in with 2-34.

The defeat leaves Keighley ten points above basement club Idle ahead of their bottom-two clash at Cavendish Road on Saturday.

Keighley II have been challenging at the right end of the table in Championship A but were beaten by fellow pace-setters Cleckheaton II last week.

Skipper Chris Dobson (93no) and fellow opener Sam Gatenby (37no) shared an unbroken stand of 147 as the hosts' ten-wicket win left them second in the table.

Earlier, Gatenby also took 3-40 with his spin when he backed up Ross Irving (4-12) in bowling out Keighley II for 146.

Zahir Abbas made 54 for the visitors, Rory Robinson (26) and Dan Murphy (24) also contributing.

Keighley II, who are in fourth place, host Idle II on Saturday.

* Keighley's first and second-team cup quarter-final matches have been put back to Sunday, July 3 due to the weather delaying the Priestley Cup and Shield programme.

The first team head to East Ardsley in the Jack Hampshire Cup and the seconds visit Crossbank Methodists in the Wheatley Cup.
