HAWORTH have kept up the pressure on leaders Bingley Congs in the Mewies Solicitors Craven League First Division.

The men from Bronteland soon took charge at Cowling, with Jamie Rowell hitting a superb 126 not out (eight fours, nine sixes) and adding 181 for the first wicket with Pete Gower (73).

Haworth finished on 238-1 and then dismissed The Coliseum hosts for 110, with only No 8 Martyn Dalby (40) offering much resistance.

Aussie Sam Porter led the way for Congs with 63 out of 207, Haroon Ali taking 4-66 as home side Embsay were thrashed by 126 runs.

Pace bowler Matt Roberts took 6-25 as the Shires Laners were castled for just 81, their six ducks being in contrast to Elliott Stockton's 49 not out.

Crossflatts are third after seeing off Haworth Road by 82 runs at Ryshworth Park.

Austin Smith (74) and Vikram Bakshi (69) took the home side to 193-8, and the Baildon Bottom side were deeply indebted to Will Forrest (83) in reaching 111 in reply as Mohammed Jamil took 3-21 and Bakshi 3-38.

Probably the innings of the day came at Street Lane, however, where Ingrow St John’s recovered from 60-7 to reach 185.

Nadeem Safdar smashed ten sixes and nine fours in a brilliant 104 to go with Nadeem Zaman’s 35 as Richard Walker finished with 6-69 and James MacDonald 4-42.

Then spin king Wasim Hussain claimed 5-37 and Safdar 3-10 as Sutton closed on 125.

Denholme’s Ryan Judson (4-23) and Cameron Foster (3-15) helped visitors Foulridge back to the hut for a modest 48 at Bradford Road.

Then Matt Wear (29no) and Adam Taylor (18no) took the home side to a ten-wicket victory.

There was a nail-biting finish at Cure Hill, where Riddlesden were the visitors.

Aftab Khan 95 off 56 balls (11 sixes, two fours) helped the Grange Road side to 202-8, with Jack Davison taking 3-29.

The hosts were always in the hunt thanks to Ben Howell (71) and Adam Smith (32), but, off the penultimate ball, wicket-keeper Jamie Fulwood pulled off a spectacular diving run out to leave Oakworth on 198 all out.

The win was Riddlesden’s first of the season and takes them out of the bottom two, leaving Foulridge and Cowling in the demotion berths.
