Stanley Rangers u-14s 10 Keighley Albion u-14s 23

DESPITE their squad being severely depleted, Keighley Albion turned in a top-drawer performance to hold off a strong challenge from Stanley Rangers.

In a closely contended first half, their defence stood firm before two tries in a five-minute spell gave them a ten-point interval lead.

First, George Georgallis made good ground to start an Albion attack which saw Jonny Dopson score under the posts, before Will Hartley capitalised on Joel Livock’s kick for the corner on the stroke of half-time.

Two quick tries for Stanley levelled the scores but Albion were not to be outdone. Charlie Heath darted through ten minutes from time to put Albion ahead once more and Joel Livock’s drop goal increased the lead to a welcome seven points.

Then, after withstanding Stanley’s best efforts to hit back, Callum Smith’s kick forward was collected by Nathan Dickinson and, with the home defence split, Smith himself raced through to give Harry Webster the final touchdown.

Match awards went to Georgallis, Callum Smith and Dopson.
