JOHNNY Walker wants to help Cougars earn promotion after joining Keighley on loan for the remainder of the 2016 season.

The Bulls prop has found chances limited at Odsal this season following his move from Leigh and is looking to get game time under his belt ahead of this autumn’s Four Nations with Scotland.

Walker’s Bulls’ contract also ends at the conclusion of the current season and the Scottish international will be looking to impress at Keighley - who host York City Knights in their final game of the regular season on Sunday - to earn himself a new deal.

Walker said: “I’m looking forward to getting started. I know Paul March well and I get on with him.

“I’ve played with most of the lads at Keighley before and I’m pretty relaxed making the move knowing the players that I’ll be playing with and I’m just waiting to rip in.

“I’m the second Bulls player to move over to Keighley on loan now. Jonny Campbell is a talented player and it’ll be good to be playing alongside him also.

“Keighley are a good side and hopefully I can play my part in helping them achieve promotion. I’ve always loved watching Cougars so it’ll be good to be a part of that and help the club push on.

“I’m looking to impress at Keighley to earn a deal for next season, whether that is with the Bulls or another side. I also want to be playing at the top of my game regularly enough ahead of the Four Nations.

“I can’t wait to be playing for Scotland this autumn - you’re playing against the best three international sides in the world and they will be tough matches but myself and the rest of the Scotland boys are really looking forward to it now.

“The League One Super 8s get underway in a fortnight’s time and I can’t wait for it, even though I need to get my passport sorted for Toulouse!

“But I know this is a side what went so close last season, so I want to help go that step further and achieve promotion.

Bulls coach Rohan Smith said: “Johnny hasn’t been getting regular game time here, so I thought it was best to send him out on loan, especially as his contract is up at the end of the year, so he’ll be looking to impress enough to earn himself a new deal.”
