THREE weeks into the season, Oakworth were in a very strange position.

The league champions had lost their first three matches in Division One and were in a relegation place.

However, the Cure Hill club have since found their form, losing only two of their next ten, including winning five out of ten and having the other three rained off.

Oakworth, who are up to sixth, notched their latest victory at second-placed Haworth, who failed to capitalise on an opening stand of 87 between Jamie Rowell (57) and Pete Gower (33).

They finished on 158-7 after a mean spell by Michael Scarborough, Gareth Marshall (5-50) picking up the wickets.

Ben Howell (49no) then steered Oakworth to a six-wicket victory, adding 48 with Adam Smith (42) and 55 with Ben Fothergill (25).

That defeat was good news for Bingley Congs, who stretched their lead to five points after a 38-run victory over Sutton in what was a Wynn Cup final dress rehearsal.

After the loss of two quick wickets, opener Andrew Copping (44) put on 52 for Congs' third wicket with Chris Dibb (43), Neil Copping (31no) ensuring that the innings didn't peter out.

Chris (4-47) and Richard Walker (3-45) were Sutton's best bowlers in the 169 total, but in reply the visitors lost regular wickets after Sam Solley (26) and Johnny Wilkinson (29) added 54 for their third wicket.

Sutton finished on 131-8, with Adrian Dibb (3-13) helping to mop up the tail after a mean spell of 2-25 by Neil Copping.

Cowling may still be second from bottom but put pressure on Riddlesden and Haworth Road Meths above them with a seven-wicket win at home to basement boys Foulridge, who were dismissed for 116 in what became a 25-overs-per-side slog, with Shahid Hassan taking 8-53.

Opener Martyn Dalby (55no) then helped the hosts home, adding 50 with Attique Khan (28) as they reached their target on the last ball of the 20th over.

Crossflatts remain second after their match with visitors Riddlesden was dominated by four batsmen.

Freddie Maddocks (75) and Alex Bradbury (45) gave Flatts a splendid start on their way to 216-6, Lee Bailey (21), Jim O'Hara (23no) and Qamar Ayub (23no) chipping in at the end.

Riddlesden lost six early wickets but were revived by numbers seven and eight Zahir Abbas (59) and Mohammad Gulnawaz (60) on their way to 183, Ayub (3-30) and Mohammed Jamil (4-41) having put the skids under the Grange Road side initially.

Only two Denholme players made double figures as they were skittled for 56 at Embsay, who triumphed in the 19th over by eight wickets.
