FARSLEY Celtic begin their pre-season friendly fixtures with a trip to Hemsworth MW tonight, and it will mark the Celts’ first game under the joint stewardship of Neil Parsley and John Deacey.

The first job the co-managers will have is finding a replacement for last season’s No 1 Tom Taylor.

The keeper, who was the supporters’ player of the year last season, left Throstle Nest over the weekend to return to Evo-Stik Division One North rivals Brighouse Town.

Most of the summer transfer business has seen players coming in as Luke O’Brien, Richard Marshall, James Walshaw and Nathan Turner have all been signed.

The hosts, managed by former Bradford Park Avenue skipper Wayne Benn, won promotion to the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division last season as Division One champions.

Taylor could also be in action as his second spell at Brighouse begins with Town hosting Hemsworth’s league rivals Harrogate Railway Athletic.

The Rail were in the same division as tonight’s hosts and Farsley last term but were relegated.

Eccleshill United are also back in friendly action after resting over the weekend when they host a Bradford City XI.

The Bantams’ first-team squad are away in Scotland, preparing to face St Johnstone tonight, so a youthful side is expected to face the Eagles.

Guiseley travel to Hyde for their fifth warm-up game and it will be good preparation for Friday night’s home friendly against Gary Monk’s Leeds United.

It will be Leeds’ first outing in England under Monk and the game is all ticket. They will be on sale at Nethermoor tomorrow.

There is also a derby friendly as Thackley’s first visitors to Dennyfield since the close season are Silsden.

Thackley have played two away games, drawing one and losing the other, while the Cobbydalers have won one and lost one in two outings at home.
