IT IS hoped that Sunday's Manorlands Plate competition will better the £1,700-plus that was raised last year for the well-known Oxenhope-based hospice.
Taking part in the Mewies Solicitors Craven League's Twenty20 competition at Oakworth this weekend are last season's Wynn Cup winners Bingley Congs, league runners-up Ingrow St John's, who meet in the first semi-final at 10.30am, and Division Two runners-up Denholme and league winners Oakworth, who feature in the second semi-final at 1pm.
The final will be at about 4.30pm, and the inaugural event last year, won by Oakworth, was a huge success, drawing on the popularity of the late Derek Granger.
Admission is £2 for adults and £1 for senior citizens and juniors, and food will be available all day, including Asian cuisine, cricket teas and a barbecue. The bar will also be open.
There will also be a raffle, with Denholme Cricket Club donating a framed cricket shirt signed by Yorkshire's 2015 County Championship-winning squad, which will be raffled during the course of the day.
