KEIGHLEY recorded only their second Bradford Premier League Championship A win of the season as they defeated high-flying Undercliffe by one wicket.

Maaiz Khan (35) and skipper Alex Towler (26no) ensured they edged past the home side's total of 142, despite some good bowling from Michael Loubser (4-35) and Amir Hussain (4-43).

It looked as if the Lawkholme Laners had missed their chance to cause an upset against their third-placed hosts when they were 72-8.

But Khan - who has stood out for Keighley during a difficult season - and skipper Towler had other ideas as they put on 61 for the ninth wicket.

There was still work to be done when Khan was out with the score on 133 but James Rogers (7no) helped them over the line.

Earlier, former Keighley player Gulsheraz Ahmed (40) was top scorer for Undercliffe as they found the going tough against Matthew Haines (5-49). Khan (2-23) and Towler (2-11 off eight overs) were also influential with the ball.

The contributions of Neil Kellett (52), Sikander Mahmood (44no) and Andrew Spencer (41) enabled Scholes II to make 210-8 on their way to a 71-run victory at Keighley II.

Dillon Birkett took 4-37 for the home side while Harry Barker (38) and Paul Wilkinson (34) top-scored as the hosts were bowled out for 139. Steven West took 3-25.

Keighley first team host Birstall on Saturday, while the seconds make the trip in the opposite direction.
