West Yorkshire League Premier Division: Oxenhope 0 Field 4

Oxenhope’s early-season difficulties with injuries and poor results continued at home to Field in midweek.

They found themselves a goal down after just five minutes when a striker cut through the centre of the home defence and fired in. Jack Richmond then blocked the Field keeper's kick but shot over.

On the half-hour, the visitors' superior strength told when they broke down the right, cut in past two defenders and scored at the far post. The home side then went three down when a corner from the left was powerfully headed in.

Oxenhope came more into the game after the break. Sub Jason McGee went on a mazy run that took him into the box but, just as he was about to fire, was blocked. Scott Nelson forced his way past three players but again he was closed down as he was about to pull the trigger.

Field made it four with the goal of the game with some intricate build up play and then a powerful finish. Their scorers were Dan Broadway, Dan Cunningham, Aiden Day and Darryll Leach.

Oxenhope’s injury list continued to mount as striker Craig Morris had to come off with a thigh strain and then sub Ross Chapman limped off.

This Saturday Oxenhope travel to Robin Hood (2.30pm)
