YOUNG Will Luxton had a weekend to remember for Steeton.

Firstly he cracked 154 not out in their second team Division One game at home to Guiseley. It is believed to be the highest score by a 13-year-old in the history of the Aire-Wharfe League.

Then he scored 37 on Sunday as Steeton's third team won their play-off final by five wickets at home to Rawdon.

Luxton, whose dad is first-team batsman Chris, smote 22 fours and three sixes in his 141-ball knock as Steeton racked up 292-4, aided by fellow teenager Aatif Modak (38) and Bradley Akrigg (51no).

Will added 73 with Modak and an unbroken 155 with Akrigg.

Guiseley made a good fist of their reply, scoring 269, after an opening stand of 153 between Tom Woodley (84) and Jack Kelly (57), Akrigg completing a fine all-round day with 3-32.

Luxton wasn't the only Keighley area teenager in the runs for an Aire-Wharfe League second team, however.

Rob Jones, 16, made 83 for Silsden in their five-wicket victory at home to Horsforth Hall Park in Division Three, Andy Pullen (56no) seeing them home with 19 balls to spare. Nick Firth had earlier taken 4-51 in Hall Park's 211-9.

Harden also finished their programme with a victory in Division Two, Richard Falkingham starring with 8-39 and 43 not out as New Rover were beaten by three wickets.

Among the first teams, Hall Park clinched the Division Three title with a six-wicket win over Silsden.

Chris Meehan (37) and Shaun Brentnall (43) gave Silsden a solid start but, not for the first time this season, Mark McEneaney stepped forward and his 5-61 helped restrict the visitors to 160, Tim Sugden making 21 not out.

Steve Phillips (48) and Ally Walshaw (45) led the response, with McEneaney not out 18 as Park secured the title.

For the second time this season, the meeting between Burley and Steeton was a high-scoring affair in Division One.

Harry Brook (66) and Nick Brook (84) top-scored as Burley raced to 355-8, with Andrew Foulds making 87 as Steeton responded with 270-4.

In Division Two, Robbie Miller (83) was the main contributor to Ben Rhydding’s 210 in which James Roper took 4-65.

Relegated Harden never looked like reaching the target and were bowled out for 125, with Alex Miller taking 4-24.
