Craven League Division One: Broomhill 6 Bradley 1

BROOMHILL put Bradley to the sword with a brace from debutant Jack Richmond and Jake Ward, complemented by goals from Andy Tanner and Joe Slater.

The Badgers started with a much-changed team, with Michael Turner, Tom Hill and Dale Duff all brought in due to injuries and absentees.

The home side should have taken the lead in the first minute. A swift break saw Turner one on one. He tried to square for strike partner Tanner but the visiting defender made a great interception.

Broomhill continued to assert their dominance, with man of the match Richmond dictating play along with Ward and Hill in the centre of midfield.

The Bradley resistance fell on the 20-minute mark as Slater cut in from his right wing, beat a player to enter the box and unleashed an unstoppable strike into the top corner.

The second came almost immediately after as Tanner outpaced the Bradley defence to a ball over the top and unselfishly squared for Ward to tap in.

The third came when Hill threaded a through ball with the outside of his foot for Tanner to latch on to and power home, despite the keeper’s best efforts.

The home defence had been untroubled all half but a poor back-pass saw Bradley pull a goal back despite keeper Jake Yaxley making two outstanding saves.

Broomhill killed the game off with their fourth on the hour mark. Midfielder Richmond ran onto a through ball and rounded the keeper, slotting home for his debut goal.

Substitute Ben Manning was introduced for the excellent Hill and seamlessly picked up where he had left off. Ward was now given more licence to drive forward and doubled his tally soon after. Full back Matthew Wilson swung in a perfect cross for Ward to side-foot home.

Goal number six came when Tanner closed down a defender to intercept a pass in the penalty box.

He cut the ball back to Richmond, who beat a man and slammed home from six yards.
