Craven League Northern Plant Hire Trophy second round: Trawden Celtic 3 FC Sporting Keighley 4 (after extra-time)

SPORTING overcame injuries to produce a much-improved performance and progress to the next round.

Trawden had the better of the first half and took the lead with a lovely curled free-kick.

Habib Aslam was replaced by Akeel Hussain after ten minutes due to an ankle injury and Keighley were dealt a further blow when Nisar Yaseen also had to be substituted at half-time, Bilal Hayat coming on.

Yet Sporting had the better of the second half and took a deserved 2-1 lead with goals from man of the match Shazad Khan and Hayat, who headed home from ten yards after Mohammed Hussain had curled in a perfect ball from the right.

Sporting should have had the game wrapped up but wasted three easy chances and conceded an equaliser just before the final whistle.

Sikander Ali Shan became Keighley's third injury victim as Faruk Ali replaced him in extra-time.

Tiredness set in on both sides but Trawden took the lead in the second period. However, Sporting refused to give in as Hayat got his second, showing great composure to finish a perfectly-timed through-ball from Khan, and Mohammed Ammer scored to put them ahead.

Trawden did everything in their power to get an equaliser, even pushing their goalkeeper into Sporting's area, but the defence held firm, midfielder Munzir Nazir producing an assured performance as stand-in goalkeeper.
