COUGARS stalwart Brendon Rawlins has been granted a testimonial by the RFL for a decade of service at Keighley.

Joining the club as one of Barry Eaton’s first signings in January 2007 from Australian side Balmain Tigers, the prop has made 221 appearances in red, white and green, scoring 53 tries.

Hailing from Townsville in Queensland, Rawlins quickly cemented a place in the team and became a firm fans favourite on the Lawkholme Lane terraces.

Though he had to miss half of the 2009 season due to visa problems, he was part of the Championship One promotion-winning squad that year and helped them repeat the success in 2011.

He built up a big friendship off the field with James Feather and was appointed junior club captain by then coach Paul March alongside senior club skipper Feather and team captain Paul Handforth.

His role became all the more important following the death of team-mate Danny Jones during a fixture at London Skolars in 2015 – a year in which he made his 200th appearance for the club in the League One play-off final defeat to Swinton Lions.
