REBECCA Granger IS on the road to Singapore.

The 27-year-old player feared that she might not be able to go there for the World Ladies' Snooker Championship in March due to a lack of money.

However, having set up a GoFundMe page on the internet to try and raise the £1,000 she needed for flights and accommodation, the Keighley woman hit the jackpot when a relative donated that exact amount.

World No 14 Rebecca, who reached the semi-finals of the same event when it was played in Leeds last April in what was only her second tournament, said: "I thought I was going to struggle to get to Singapore, especially when the donations got off to a slow start (only £135 came in over the first 11 days).

"But the £1,000 has come from within the Chapman family who I am related to, and it takes the pressure off and means that I can now enjoy my practice as I prepare for the two tournaments before the World Championships."

They are January's Eden Classic in Derby and February's Connie Gough Memorial Trophy in Dunstable as Rebecca bids to reach the top eight of the world rankings before Singapore, thus making her tournament draws easier.

And further good news is that she also has a coach – Menston's David Horrix, from the World Billiards & Snooker Association.

Rebecca said: "David has previously given me practice routines, but now he has agreed to coach me, starting today."
