BRIGHOUSE Town have the opportunity to consolidate their leadership of Evo-Stik League Division One North on Saturday as they host struggling neighbours Ossett Albion.

Paul Quinn’s Town have outstripped expectations so far this term and are two points clear at the summit as they welcome Richard Tracey’s Unicorns.

Farsley Celtic boosted their placing in the same division last weekend with a 3-0 away win that took them back up to sixth but they would be happy to lose ground again tomorrow if it means that they continue to progress in the FA Trophy.

The Celts face a trip to league counterparts Mossley for a first qualifying round tie.

Farsley won 3-1 at Radcliffe Borough in the preliminary round, while the Lilywhites overcame Northwich Victoria after a replay.

If league form is a guide, the Celts will be favourites despite not having home advantage as none of the Lilywhites' four league victories have come at Seel Park, but the 18th-placed side did manage an impressive draw at Brighouse earlier in the campaign.

Thackley could go top of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division with a home win this weekend tomorrow if other results go their way.

The Dennyboys moved up into second in midweek and host Staveley MW, who are 19th in the table.

Rivals Liversedge could also go back to the summit but face the sternest of tests as they travel to leaders Cleethorpes Town.

Sedge are only two points behind their hosts but have played two games more.

Albion Sports host a Maltby Main side that are ten places lower but Kulwinder Sandhu’s Lions are not in the best of form.

They were held to a 3-3 draw at Parkgate last weekend and lost 4-0 at home to newly-promoted Hemsworth last night.

In Division One, Campion climbed back into the play-off places last night following a 3-0 home victory against Yorkshire Amateurs.

They are at home again on Saturday in what will be a tough game as they face Pontefract Collieries, who are second.

Eccleshill United are in the middle of a poor run and face a stern test at eighth-placed Selby Town, who are only out of the play-off places on goal difference.

Silsden face the first of two cup games in different North West Counties League competitions as they travel to New Mills for a League Cup second-round tie.

The Cobbydalers and their hosts suffered relegation last term.

The Millers were in the Evo-Stik League but Silsden dropped into NWC Division One, so there is still a division separating them.

A week on Saturday, James Gill’s men travel to Barrow to face Holker Old Boys in the Division One Cup first round.
