West Riding County FA Trophy fourth round: Oxenhope Reserves 1 Kirkheaton Rovers 5
OXENHOPE’S second string bowed out of the County Trophy to Kirkheaton Rovers first team from the Huddersfield League.
The home side found themselves two goals down after ten minutes via long balls over the defence for the visitors' fast strikers to run on to and slot home.
Eventually Oxenhope came more into the game, with Sam Murphy, Jason McGee and Sean Quinlan all going close. Kirkheaton went further ahead just before half-time, catching the home side with a breakaway goal.
In the second half Oxenhope started strongly but could not find a way through a well-drilled defence. Another breakaway goal put Kirkheaton four up and Oxenhope were caught out once again ten minutes before time.
The home side did score a late consolation goal from the penalty spot in the final minute when Murphy converted.
On Saturday they host Leeds Modernians in the league (2pm).
