KEIGHLEY'S Rebecca Granger was beaten in the last 16 of the latest World Ladies' Billiards & Snooker ranking tournament in Derby.

Having topped her group unbeaten in the Eden Women's Masters at Cueball, the world No 14 fell 3-1 to eventual runner-up So Man Yan (Hong Kong) in the first-round proper.

Granger was drawn in Group A, and defeated Claire Edginton (England) 3-0, Katrina Wan (Hong Kong) 2-1 and Chrissy Allwood (England) 3-0.

Yan was defeated 4-0 in the final by Reanne Evans (England), who didn't drop a frame on her way to taking the Eden event for the fourth time.

The final should have been best of nine but didn't start until 1am in an event that featured nine of the world's top ten.

Granger now switches her attention to the Eden World Women's Championship from March 13-19 at the Billiard Lagoon in Toa Payoh, Singapore.

It is the first time in over 20 years that the World Championship has been held abroad but there is compensation for the extra travelling in that the prize fund is £15,000.

The first prize of £5,000 is more than four times the sum won by Evans in 2016 when she claimed an unprecedented 11th world crown.
