KEIGHLEY'S Rebecca Granger, a World Championship semi-finalist last season, notched her biggest scalp of all last Sunday in the Connie Gough Memorial Trophy.

The world No 14 defeated 11-times world champion Reanne Evans (England) 3-2 in the semi-finals of the World Ladies' Billiards & Snooker Association ranking event in Dunstable before being beaten 4-2 by Maria Catalano (England), who won the tournament for the sixth time.

After topping her group in the pool stages, Granger, who pocketed £140 in the event and had a best break of 46, defeated Sharon Kaur (England) 3-0 in the second round.

She then beat Suzie Opacic (England) 3-2 in the quarter-finals before winning the last two frames 80-29, 60-33 to beat world No 1 Evans.

The Keighley woman trailed Dudley's Catalano 3-0 in the final before winning frames four and five, and is now at an all-time high of 12 in the world rankings leading into the £15,000 Eden Women's World Championship in Singapore on March 13-19.
