KEIGHLEY'S Ibrahim Nadim had to settle for second place in the England Boxing Youth Championships at the Magna Centre in Rotherham.
The Bury Amateur Boxing Club member lost on a split decision to Hunslet Club's Hope Price in the 46-49kg category.
Having been given a bye in the quarter-finals, Nadim stormed into the final with a first-round stoppage victory over Danny Quinn, which included two standing counts.
Trainer Mike Jelley disagreed with the judges' decision in the final – believing Nadim had won the first two rounds against Price and saying: "I was absolutely gutted for him."
Nadim – whose cousin Muhammad Ali is back in the ring for the first time since the Rio Olympics tonight when he competes in a World Series Boxing fixture in Paris – could face a return clash with Price.
The pair are due to box in the Three Nations event in early April.
