SHORTAGE of section observers at Bradford District Motor Club's Manywells Winter trial at Lumb Waterfall in Cowling did not prevent 32 competitors from riding their machines on Saturday.

Clerk of Course Jason Dunning plotted eight sections for the event but only had four observers available so opted for the entire field to ride the first four sections and then start again and ride the second four sections.

On the Manywells Novice course, Cowling’s Robert Berry and Glusburn contender Jonathan Baker managed to ride the entire course without penalty to head Skipton’s Richard Pearson by three marks.

Martyn Pratt was the best Youth competitor in the class. Michael Grayson won Manywells 50/50 course while Lucy Ayrton and Josh Pearson headed the Youth classes.

Only three contested the Easy route which was won by Finn Potter.

LITTLE Isabelle Addy made a big impression while competing in Yeadon-Guiseley Motor Club's second closed to club championship trial.

The four-year-old from Silsden rode her electric-powered Oset like a veteran at Dob Park, finishing 11th on the easy course route in what was her first ever trial.

She was one of 22 beginners in the 100-strong entry who took on Browns Wood under the guidance of Paul Whitham here the gradients and the pine covered surface tested all and was also a soft landing for those who stumbled.

The remaining 78 competitors roamed a four-lap course of ten sections in Dob Park.
