Women's Yorkshire Division Five North: Selby Seconds 9 Airedale Seconds 1

AIREDALE had a tough challenge against the division's leaders, who were quick off the mark to test their defence. After deflecting numerous attempts on goal, Airedale eventually conceded and a further three goals followed.

But they hit back when Fern Godfrey smashed a sensational ball out to the left wing where Adele Haughey was available to collect. Haughey drove the ball into the D and, despite significant pressure from both the goalkeeper and defender, she slotted home.

The second half saw Selby emerge with a fierce start, scoring two early goals.

Airedale kept at it, with captain Nic Heeley striving to create opportunities from midfield and Katherine Bird challenging the Selby defence with her speed and agility up the left wing.

The visitors thought they had secured a second goal when Libby Marsh collected a through ball and took a shot but she was unlucky to see it go narrowly wide.

Airedale held the Selby attack for a sustained period but they eventually broke through again and scored another cluster of goals to end 9-1 winners.
