Women's Yorkshire Division Five North: Leeds Fifths 3 Airedale Seconds 1

AIREDALE’S last game of the season began quite evenly but Leeds opened the scoring.

This ignited the visitors' fire and they emerged firmly on the attack. Sam Fawcett shone in midfield, where she made some tremendous passes to Niamh O’Reilly, who troubled the defenders with her sheer pace.

It wasn’t long before Airedale earned a short corner from which Fawcett coolly slotted in the equaliser.

The second half showed the away side determined to come home with a result. Georgia Ramshaw was consistent on the left wing, feeding through to Libby Marsh, who made some promising runs into the D.

Katie Barber was spritely on the right wing, ensuring that she was available for accurate passes.

The home team fought back and an unfortunate defensive error caused Airedale to score an own goal, allowing Leeds to take the lead.

Airedale's defence worked incredibly hard to hold their line. Kitty Blake impressed with her confident hit-outs and composure on the ball.

Bolstered by their lead, Leeds soon found themselves with another scoring opportunity which they did not waste to seal the match.
