LAST season's Conference Division champions Buttershaw St Paul's got off to a winning start in the All Rounder Bradford Premier League Championship Division Two with an eight-wicket success at Idle.

An unbroken third-wicket partnership of 138 between Tosh Baker (65no) and Ben Platt (49no) saw them ease past Idle's total of 178 with ten overs to spare.

Arbaab Hussain's (31) top scored for Idle as Paul Carroll took the Buttershaw bowling honours with 4-36.

Northowram Fields, promoted with St Paul's, opened with an 89-run victory over Altofts.

John Lister led the way with 63, and Chris Metcalf chipped in with 30 as Fields posted 206-9.

New signing Farrouk Alam led the way with 46 for Altofts as they were dismissed for 117, Josh Bennett Keer (4-36) and Jason Smith (3-34) doing most of the damage.

Mohammad Khan made a big impact on his return to Hartshead Moor, scoring an unbeaten 106 and taking 4-46 in his side's nine-wicket win.

Khan and former Yorkshire and Scotland seamer Iain Wardlaw (3-55) joined forced as Brighouse were bowled out for 170.

Khan then took centre stage with the bat, striking one six and 17 fours and dominating an unbroken second-wicket stand of 93 with Ahsan Butt (30no).

Keighley's hopes of better times ahead were boosted by their 66-run success against Hopton Mills.

Off-spinner Matthew Haines took 5-28 as Mills were dismissed for 99 in reply to Keighley's 165.

Australian Travis Nightingale (36) and Haines (32) were the top scorers for Keighley.

Hunslet Nelson bowler Derek Hammill took 4-60 as they bowled out Spen Victoria for 145 to secure a 30-run win. Opener Evan Edwards battled hard with 63, while Chris Allen made 30, but the rest of the Spen batting faltered.

Andrew McIntosh (38) and Patrick Hinchliffe (33) were the main contributors for Nelson, while the best of the Spen bowlers were young spinners Alex Leadbeater (4-46) and Danny Cross (3-58).

Teenage opener Daniel Ford made 44 and was supported by Arman Hussain (38) as Carlton overhauled Liversedge's 182-9 with 19 balls to spare.

Opener Mark Hydes (45) was top scorer for Liversedge, while the best of the Carlton bowlers was Jonathan Thurwell (3-41).
