THE CRAVEN League's Wynn Cup competition kicked off on Sunday with three first-round ties as Ingrow St John's, Oakworth and Barrowford made progress.

Saints posted 172 at Division One leaders Embsay as Ahtasham Raza made 33, Ronnie Chokununga 27 and Imran Zaman 27. Second-teamer George Maloney took 3-28 for the hosts, who wer struggling at 71-7 before some tail-wagging led by John Golson (43no) got them to 140. Humayun Shahzad (3-27) was the most successful bowler for St Johns.

A barely recognisable Haworth line-up made 159 at West Lane with Harry Reynoldson making 46 and Dan Trowers 41 as Jack Davison (3-5) and Richard Cavender (3-55) were the best bowlers for Oakworth.

The visitors dashed to a six-wicket victory with youngster Jordan Powell crashing 69 while Ben Howell (36no) and Joel Gallagher (36) also impressed.

Barrowford blasted 208-5 at home to Cononley with Majid Iqbal making 63no and Shakeel Butt 61no as Tom Feather took 2-30. The South Craveners never got to grips with the pace of Ashir Imdad (6-22) and Jonny Ormerod (3-16) and were dismissed for 77, Andrew Starkey making 23.

Long Lee conceded their game to Hepworth & Idle.
