West Riding County FA Sunday Cup third round: Mainline Social FC 2 Crossflatts Village 4

MANAGER Kevin Gill heaped praise on Crossflatts after they came from behind to advance to the fourth round.

The away side were 1-0 down at half-time but came away victorious thanks to second-half goals from Oliver Metcalfe, man-of-the-match Lewis Morgan, Craig Morris and Michael Garnett.

A delighted Gill said: “We were unlucky to be behind at the break and I just told the lads to keep doing what they were doing.

"We are on good run at the moment and the players are all contributing. We got what we deserved in the second half and I am so proud of the lads.”

Gill went on to praise man-of-the-match Lewis Morgan. He said: “Lewis was class on Sunday. When I told him he was playing at right back, he moaned a bit, but I told him to stop sulking and do a job for the team and he was outstanding throughout – and he capped the performance off with a goal.”

Assistant manager Les Cooper was also in buoyant mood and thanked the team's fans for cheering them on.

He said: “What a performance. The team spirit here is second to none.

"Our travelling fans were unbelievable as they always are. If we keep playing like this we have a good chance of going all the way in the County Cup but we need to take each round as it comes.”

Village will now host Castleford & District Sunday League side Fryston AFC in the fourth round on Janaury 7.
