In a precursor of last Sunday's Waddilove Cup final Steeton had a losing (2-4) draw at home to Pool.

In a match reduced to 40 overs each by rain, Pool batted first and scored 212-4 in their 40 overs, with Pool's Jamie Davey (101) top scoring with an unbeaten century.

Four of the seven Steeton bowlers used took a single wicket each: Neil Spragg (1-14), Jon Best (1-16), Luke Stockill (1-37) and Alex Gledhill (1-48).

There were catches for keeper Neil Wilson, Neil Spragg and James Procter.

In reply Steeton scored 167-8 in their 40 overs with Neil Spragg top scoring with 58 runs off 77 deliveries with eight boundaries.

Spragg shared a fourth wicket partnership of 42 runs with James Procter, who scored 22 runs.

Opener Chris Meehan had earlier chipped in with 12 runs. Steeton were wobbling at 130-8, but when Steeton needed someone to stand firm that someone was Luke Stockill (21 not out) who shared an impressive ninth wicket stand of 37 runs with Stephen Pearson, who was also unbeaten on nine.

Together they saw Steeton pass the target of 159 runs, and so Steeton were able to collect two points, which closes the gap on the teams at the base of the first division to just three points.

On Saturday Steeton play away at Burley.

l Silsden took all six points in a 70-run win at Calverley as things are starting to get interesting at the top of Division Two.

Silsden are in third place, one point behind Rawdon and only four behind leaders Guiseley.

Their win at Calverley was lead by batsman Lee Billbrough and bowler Zeeshan Quasim, their overseas player.

Billbrough's 82 carried the Silsden innings as they closed on 154 all out. Paul Valkovics was the pick of Calverley bowlers, taking 4-54.

In reply Calverley were skittled out for just 84, thanks in large part to Quasim's excellent bowling.

He took 5-38 in his 20 overs, which included five maidens. Yasa Ali also bowled well, taking 3-17 in 12 overs, which included six maidens. Calverley opener S Moore top scored with 42.

Silsden host Upper Wharfedale on Saturday.
