A pair of Denholme sisters led the charge as young riders from our region powered to success at Lincoln M.C.C & C.C. in the Acklam Beta British Ladies & Girls Trials Championship at Hatcliffe, North Lincolnshire on Saturday.

Olivia and Summer Brooksbank each won their age group classes and in all, six local girls scored solid points at the second event in the championship.

Olivia held the Class B championship last year but she now rides in a higher class. She won that at the weekend by scoring 20 points.

Her little sister Summer competed alone in Class D and also won. Beth Dunning, who lives at Crosshills, was third in the Ladies Class and had a strong score of 32 points out of a possible 40.

Silsden teenager Gabby Whitham competed against multi world and British Championship winner Emma Bristow and took an impressive sixth place with 18 points.

Burnley youngster Isobel Skehan, who is a member of the Yeadon-Guiseley club, rode in a non-championship category and won her class.

Lucy Ayrton also performed well in tackling the tricky terrain.

The next two events are both in Yorkshire. Scarborough D.M.C. are the hosts on June 3 before the competitors travel to Yeadon-Guiseley M.C. on July 8.

Unfortunately, recent poor weather in Yorkshire means that the cancellations continue.

The Yeadon-Guiseley club's easy trials, which were scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Ian's Rocks in Darley, was cancelled on Friday afternoon after a visit revealed that the car parking areas were a sea of mud.

Later on Friday, the Wetherby Motor axed their Yorkshire Centre Championship Tetley Trophy Trial at Fellbeck for more or less the same reason.
