KEIGHLEY Athletic completed a league and cup double in unusual circumstances with victory by default against opponents Keighley Town, who were unable to fulfil their Harry Nicholson trophy final fixture.

It is has been a memorable season for Athletic, who finalised their Wharfedale Triangle Premier division campaign with a 4-4 draw again Shipley Town.

Callum Wear, Luke Snowden, Jason McGee and Danny Driver's goals ensuring the Athletes remained unbeaten in the competition.

Veteran player Mick Goodwin said: "It's been a pleasure to be part of and fantastic to celebrate our 20th anniversary as a club with our most successful year to date.

"The atmosphere in the dressing room has been first class with the perfect mix of youth and experience and plenty of fun. Well done to all involved".

Manager Liam McNicol added: "It's been an absolute privilege to take my first management role this season along with my assistant Joe Jalil and the evergreen Joe Brady.

"From the first day I took over I could feel an optimism from the boys and the new lads we brought in have taken the team to the next level.

"Over the course of the season we've definitely been the most consistent side and it's been enjoyable all round."
