Bradford Sunday Alliance Championship

Crossflatts Village 8 Wyke Rangers 0

CROSSFLATTS Village were crowned Bradford Sunday Alliance Championship league winners after destroying Wyke Rangers at the Crossflatts Recreational Ground on Tuesday night.

Kevin's Gill's side went into the final league game of the season knowing that only a win would be sufficient to pip Station Hotel to the title on goal difference. They won at a canter, thanks to goals from Connor Erangey, James Gill (2), Oliver Metcalfe, Billy Bailey and a superb Michael Garnett hat-trick.

The club had already secured the Keighley & District Cup and the Bradford Sunday Alliance Senior League Cup in what has been the most successful season in the club's history to date.

Village switched from the Wharfedale Triangle League in the summer and made several key signings both on and off the field; and the signings have paid dividends.

Assistant manager Les Cooper said: "When we set out in pre-season we wanted to win promotion to the Premiership and to do ourselves justice in the cup competitions, and it is fair to say that we have done both.

"We have scored 102 league goals and conceded only 13 and we have had to win our last eight league games in a row to become champions.

"The players have been terrific, everyone in the squad has stood up and been counted for when we have needed them.

"The club's fans are second to none. I have never known anything like it for a Sunday team.

"They have turned out in big numbers consistently this season. This is for them."
