HALIFAX League Premier Division leaders Thornton remain at the top with a two-wicket win at neighbours Oxenhope.

Exactly 500 runs were scored in the encounter with the home team recording a challenging score of 248-9, Joseph Ousey (72) and Lewis Hopkinson (49) top-scoring.

In reply Tim Shackleton (74) and Nikki Hutchinson (63) led the chase that ended successfully with seven balls to spare to take 11 points.

Warley reduced Thornton's lead to eight points with a 106-run win over Shelf Northowram Hedge Top as Chris Atkinson (112), Greg Keywood (111) and Shazad Hassan (51no) combined to record 310-5. Hedge Top, with the exception of Sabar Malik (72) and Oliver Hemingway (60) then crumbled to the bowling of Keywood (7-77).

Illingworth St Mary’s continue to top Division One, emphatically disposing of hosts Great Horton Park Chapel by a mammoth 277 runs.

St Mary’s posted 313-6 with Callum Cook (106) and Luke Brooksby (50no) top-scoring before Great Horton were skittled for only 36 as Jamie Moorhouse (5-14) and Brooksby (4-22) were in the wickets. Clayton’s Jason Gelder (110) and Sam Wilson (70no) were the instigators of a fine winning chase on their visit to Queensbury. Their team needed just over 40 overs to overtake the hosts' 290-6.

Earlier, Oliver Challis (82), Joseph Clough (56no) and Jack Richardson (52) had given the home team hope but five poor overs saw two bowlers conceded 74 runs.

In Division Two, Outlane lifted themselves off the bottom, winning by nine wickets at Low Moor HT, chasing 215 to take 11 points.

An opening partnership between Adam Davies (95) and Lee Mellor (68) ensured victory in only 21.2 overs – a strike rate of over 10 runs an over.

Struggling Cullingworth had little comfort on their trip to Mount as they were bowled out for 74, Ismail Myatt taking 5-25. The home team took little time to take maximum points with Mahmad Gheewala (44no) in the runs again.
