THERE were some tasty ties in the first round of the Quaid-e-Azam League's Yasmin & Shaid Solicitors Cup.

For example, last year's runners-up Darulshafa knocked out league champions Bhalot Strikers, while there was also a heavyweight clash between Onq and Keighley RZM.

A brilliant 125 by Amar Rashid and 67 from Mohammed Bilal helped Darulshafa to 267-9.

In reply, skipper Yassir Ali scored 85 for Strikers, who were all out for 191.

Another Premier League went crashing out at the hands of a Section A side after Style had scored 206, including a brave 77 from Uzair Khan.

Top-flight Flix were then all out for 189, despite the efforts of their skipper Mohammed Altaf (61).

The mouth-watering tie between Onq and Keighley RZM was won by the former by six wickets.

Onq chased down a low score of 145 after Mohammed Shakir picked up 4-39 and Suleman Khan 4-21.

Gharib Razzak then scored 62 as Onq cruised home.

Earlmarshall beat Central Leeds by eight wickets, chasing down 128 as Ibrahim Adil scored an unbeaten 53.

Hasnat Yousaf continued his fine form in the cup as he helped Kashmir Dewsbury pass EAM's 189.

His unbeaten 76 helped Kashmir cruise into round two by six wickets, despite EAM'S Mohammed Shahnawaz scoring 65.

Heaton Park, who made 145 (Masoor Hussain 43, Ismail Patel 5-33), were knocked out by Punjab, who triumphed by three wickets.

Meanwhile, Karamand were involved in a close match against Rising Stars after making 185, with skipper Rashid Ayub contributing 59.

Rising Stars were then all out for 172 (M Ijaz 42).

White Rose were too strong for Indus Bradford, who were thrashed by ten wickets despite making 171.

However, White Rose openers Shokat Ali (100no) and Salaman Syed (51no) made light of that.

In the Riaz Khan & Co Solicitors Shield, Azad knocked out holders Bradford Moor, who made 226-9 (Kyme Khan 60, Amjid Tariq 54).

In reply, an unbeaten 98 not out by Nabeel Raza and 45 from Vijay Milton took Azad to a three-wicket victory.

Skipper Shiraz scored 109 not out for Diamond, and was helped by M Shoaib (81no) in setting Yorkshire Lions 342 to win.

They made a good fist of it with 267, with Shafqat Hussain scoring 76 and Abid Hussain 42.

In contrast, Kashmir Bradford beat Bradford Royals by one wicket.

Royals were all out for 126, with Rashid Mehmood scoring 59, and Kashmir skipper Azhar Iqbal taking 5-20.

In reply, Kashmir reached their target thanks to Mohammed Zulfiqar Khan (63).

My Lahore thrashed Chach by nine wickets, after the latter made 176 (Jabbar Ahmed 83no, M Shah 4-35).

In reply a magnificent unbeaten century partnership by M Naqvi (106no) and Ehsan Ali (64no) proved decisive.

Green stars beat TABS by five wickets after dismissing them for 90 (Rehan Nazir 4-20), Stars replying with 92-5 (M Saeed 4-24).

Much easier was Raja's 105-run win over Kings after making 266-6 (Kashif Talib 78, Umar Abbas 64no, F Javed 51).

Kings were all out for 159 (Ejaz Ahmed 62, Rohail Hussain 4-24).

Krass Eagles and Shaheen both had byes.
