DANNY Forrest is the Hallmark Security League First Division Manager of the Year for 2017/18 after guiding Silsden back to the Premier Division as league champions after a two year stay in the second tier.

Forrest took over as manager in November 2016 and just missed out on the play-offs last season after a strong end to the campaign.

After a good pre-season this year, Silsden started like a steam train and ended August top of the league after winning their opening five games.

This winning run in the league went on and on until November 18 when they lost at Holker Old Boys after 17 successive victories, a new First Division record.

They remained top of the league though until the start of March, when Litherland REMYCA took over top spot.

However seven wins from their last nine games saw them take the title with a record breaking 103 points, the first time in league history that a second tier team has scored over 100 points.

The only potentially disappointing thing from Forrest's point of view may have been bowing out of every one of the four cups that they entered at the first hurdle, but that doesn't detract from a superb season overall.

In total, Danny was in charge for 47 games this season, winning 34 (72.3%), drawing four (8.5%) and losing just nine (19.2%). Silsden scored 114 goals in total and conceded 52.
